Estrous Cycle Synchronization In

چکیده
E STRUS and ovulation in gilts have been successfully inhibited by daily injections of progesterone (Ulberg et al., 1951; Baker et al., 1954) and more recently by the inclusion of progestational compounds in the feed (Nellor, 1960; Dzuik and Baker, 1962). The successful use of orally active progestational agents to synchronize the estrous cycles of gilts without a subsequent reduction in fertility offers a practical management technique for facilitating the operation of multiple farrowing programs. The use of these orally active compounds has been found to be associated with formation of cystic ovarian follicles (Nellor et al., 1961). First et al. (1963) studied the factors affecting ovulation and follicular cyst formation in sows and gilts fed 6-methyl-17-acetoxyprogesterone. They found that dosage level of the hormone, but not frequency of feeding or energy or fiber content of the diet, affected follicular cyst formation. The purpose of the work reported was: (1) to obtain further data concerning the use of orally effective progestational compounds for estrus control in gilts, (2) to observe the influence of a period of estrogen derivative feeding just prior to the progesterone derivative feeding on estrus synchronization, and (3) to observe the effect of feeding these hormones on fertility.

Changes of acute-phase proteins during different phases of the estrous cycle in Ovsynch-synchronized Holstein cows
Background: Acute-phase proteins (APPs) may be increased due to different stresses during estrus phase in farm animals. Aims: Determining changes of APPs at different phases of non-synchronized estrous cycle group (NSEG), and Ovsynch-synchronized estrous cycle group (SEG) in Holstein cows. Methods: Twelve non-pregnant clinically and paraclinicaly healthy Holstein cows with a body condition scor...
متن کاملThe “Male Effect” Onestrous Synchronization and Reproductive Characteristics of Female Markhoz Goat during the Breeding Season
One hundred female Markhoz goats (42±5 kg) were used to investigate the ‘male effect’ on estrous synchronization and reproductive characteristics of female goat during the breeding season. This was carried out in three separate experiments. In the first experiment, forty female goats were used in 4 groups with different distance from the male goats (i.e. source of pheromone secretion); A1 (1 me...
متن کاملPhysiological Principles Underlying Synchronization of Estrus
Reproductive efficiency is the most important factor impacting the economics of a cow calf operation. The economic value of reproduction for commercial beef producers was reported to be five times greater than calf growth (Trenkle and Willham, 1977). Maximizing reproductive efficiency depends upon the successful completion of the following events: a heifer must reach puberty before the start of...

The objective of this study was to evaluate three methods of estrous synchronization, viz. controlled internal drug releasing device (CIDR), intravaginal sponges impregnated with fluogestone acetate (FGA), and cloprostenol (Estrumate; an analogue of prostaglandin F2α) in Nadooshani goats of Yazd province, Iran. The estrous synchronized does (n = 30 to 33 per treatment), after heat detection, wer...
متن کاملFertility of Natural Vs Synchronized Estrus
Synchronizing estrus is an effective way to maximize the use of time and labor required to detect standing estrus in cattle. However, estrous synchronization can also benefit overall herd management. Cows that are synchronized 1) exhibit standing estrus at a predicted time, 2) conceive earlier in the breeding season, 3) calve earlier in the calving season, and 4) wean calves that are older and ...
متن کاملREVIEW OF ESTROUS SYNCHRONIZATION SYSTEMS : GnRH
Synchronization of estrus contributes to optimizing the use of time, labor, and financial resources by shortening the calving season, in addition to increasing the uniformity of the calf crop. The major limitation of estrus-synchronization programs is their inability to induce a potentially fertile estrus and ovulation in noncycling cattle (i.e., prepubertal heifers and anestrous suckling cattl...
